ACCREDITATION
Message from the Dean
Welcome to Spalding University! The College of Education is pleased to welcome the visiting teams from the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) for both the off-site review, beginning in April 2011, and campus visit in the Fall of 2011.
Our teacher candidates, faculty, and staff reflect our diverse community. Our outstanding educator preparation programs at Spalding University are build on our rich history in teacher education while concentrating on the needs of our community and beyond. Our theme, Educator as Leader, frames our commitment to the preparation of leaders for the success of students in P-12 classrooms, college campuses, and career paths.
The compelling dedication and commitment of our faculty to improving the preparation of teachers led them to unanimously vote on May 14, 2010 to participate as an institution pursuing the Continuous Improvement (CI) model. Our response to NCATE’s commitment to the CI model has helped us renew our commitment to excellence. The results of participating in this process will allow us to grow as a unit and continue to propel our candidates’ performance toward making a positive difference in students’ academic achievement and create positive school cultures as systems for learning in a global society.
Best regards,
Beverly Keepers, Ph.D.
Dean of the College of Education
